About Me

My name is Missy and welcome to my page! I am a stay at home mom of 5, and married to my best friend.

I have learned more about myself over the years, and my abilities. I am constantly inspired by the world around me!

When I was younger, I was always observing other people's trades, and how they do them. I knew that whenever someone was doing something, I would want to try it, to see if I could do it too.

I started out with decorating and it quickly became one of my hobbies. My favorite channel was HGTV, and I always felt inspired by all the new ideas that people would show, that didn't really take a lot of money to do, just the elbow grease.

So I started out small, and painted my hickory cupboards white. That was one of THE hardest decisions I was about to make, in a world where painting wood was frowned upon. But, after I was done, I took a step back, and LOVED it!! And that's where it all began...it became fun to try new things, things nobody but the people on the tv were doing.

So next came the walls, outside doors, wallpapering, backsplash, countertops, and picture frame molding. People would poke fun about how whenever they came to visit, they felt like they were visiting a different house each time...ha! But really, who would have thought that all that creativity was just 'sitting' inside of me waiting to bust out!

Then came Pinterest...I quickly became obsessed with wanting to change STRUCTURAL parts of my house, without a hired professional! My husband thought I was crazy, but he knew he wouldn't be able to talk me out of it...I am driven, sorry babe! And without even a second thought, I started demo'ing. There was sheetrock dust, everywhere, and my OCD was killing me! But at that point, I couldn't turn back, so we kept plugging along. If you stick around, you will see what we demo'd, and how our process went :)

My baking projects came not too long after our woodworking projects were done. With having 5 kids, I make a lot of cakes. In the past, when I would make them, they would look alright, but nothing like the pictures on Pinterest. I became inspired by Pinterest, yet again, and took my time on the cakes, REALLY took my time, and read through the steps, and could you believe that they almost looked like the cake in the picture?! I was thrilled, so I started sharing my cakes on Facebook, and even made it's very own album! Yay!

Two years later, I have been receiving all kinds of orders for my goodies, started a home based bakery, and now I am adding tutorials to show people that with some inspiration, and a lot of patience, anyone can create just about anything.

I have two Facebook pages going (confusing, right?), one is purely for my 'inspiredyummies' (plug!), and the other is for everything else that I like to do, including sharing craft ideas, decorating ideas, and parenting advice and ideas.

I hope that you will join me as I share my life in pictures, blogs and tutorials, and that I may inspire you in the same way you have inspired me!
